Vintage 1940s Blue Willow Plate – "Made in Occupied Japan" Post-WWII

£12.00

A wonderful piece of mid-century history for your collection, this blue and white transferware plate features the classic "Willow" pattern but with a geopolitical twist. The reverse bears the highly collectible stamp reading: "MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN", dating its production strictly to the post-WWII Allied occupation era between 1945 and 1952.

The front of the plate features the willow legend in a rich, vibrant cobalt blue transfer, detailed with the traditional weeping willow tree, pavilions, a bridge with figures, and the iconic star-crossed lovers transformed into soaring doves. It serves as both a beautiful decorative piece and a tangible slice of 20th-century history.

23.5cm wide.
