Large Antique Blue Willow Transferware Oval Serving Platter

£40.00

This large antique blue willow transferware serving platter dates from the late 19th century, likely between 1870-1900. It has a number ‘14’ impressed in to the back before glazing, which is a traditional English potter’s feature. The absence of a company makers stamp is typical for Staffordshire pottery of this era.

This was designed to be a centrepiece meat platter, but today it would make a wonderful decorative piece, or as a functional serving piece as it was designed to be over 100 years ago. We personally use a platter like this for serving up BBQ platters, picky bits or large salads.

Good vintage condition with wear to the bottom and a couple bits of nibbling on some edges but nothing large or noticeable on the top.
