Antique Victorian Blue Willow Footed Cake Stand – Grocott & Nightingale, Staffordshire c. 1860
This gorgeous mid-19th century "Blue Willow" transferware cake stand (also known as a tazza or comport) was crafted in Longton, Staffordshire, by the renowned firm Grocott & Nightingale (active c. 1855–1862). The stand features the iconic Chinoiserie legend of star-crossed lovers transformed into doves.
The deep cobalt blue transfer and pedestal base make it perfect for serving cakes, fruit, scones, or even fresh eggs.
Features the "Warranted Staffordshire" bowknot backstamp with "G & N" initials.
As is characteristic of authentic 170-year-old earthenware, this piece has fine glaze crazing throughout and chipping to the rim and base (as shown in photos).
